About the school
Santikiri High School has about 450 students in total. Each student has approximately 4 English classes per week. Ideally you would get to see each class four times – one week with grades 7-8 (Mah 1-2), the other with grades 9-12 (Mah 3-6). Students are approximately 12 to 18 years of age. The classes vary in size, between 20 and 50 students in a variety of room configurations around the school. There are two English teachers at the school full time - both are very competent, helpful and excited about our project. Additional staff are available for assistance and depending upon your interests may provide opportunities to participate in other subject classes.
About the Teaching Schedule
At Santikiri High School each day has a different schedule. There are set breaks during the day, a one hour lunch break and a various periods where no class is scheduled. During the two week program, when possible, we also run after school programs a couple of the days each week, such as or painting or sports activities. Your time spent at the school on weekdays will run from about 8:00 am to as late as 6:30 pm, depending on the after school activities and other school events. Your weekends and evenings are free to explore around the town and surrounding area.
