Oiy exploring the far north

Benjaporn (Oiy) Khongchan is one of those great people that help make it all happen. We first met her in 2001 while designing the first English Fun Days program. She was the English teacher we contacted at Santikiri Withayakom School, Doi Mae Salong, with the idea of starting a volunteer-led English teaching program. She enthusiastically embraced the idea and helped make the first program happen at her school.
After eight years living and teaching at Doi Mae Salong she moved to teach English at Tak province in 2004 to be closer to her parents. In the time we’ve known Oiy she has gotten to know the entire SA team, not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level. She continues to help us coordinate outreach programs throughout the country and is often a source of assistance when dealing with other schools. Oiy also has an adventurous spirit; having joined us on several occasions to scout new adventure routes and is studying to become a licensed tourism guide later in 2005.
