trekking leader - Nepal

The king of the mountains
|
Born and raised in the Ghorkah region of Nepal, world-famous for its warriors, Roshan studied hard as a young man, knowing the future would take him much further than his small mountain town.
After graduating high school he moved to Kathmandu in 1990 to look for work. Here he got his first job as a porter, lugging up to 50kg at a time on long mountain treks for international visitors. He slugged away for one year then found himself in a position to move up – this time working as a guide. Now learning English was of key importance to continue growing his new career.
An English traveler was one of his first guests and spent most of a month-long trek teaching him English. This visitor continued to travel a couple of times per year, providing not only work but quickly developing his language abilities. Today Roshan is not only an incredible speaker of the English language but one of Nepal’s premier trekking leaders.
Regularly seen leading mountain expeditions over 6,000m, Roshan manages trekking crews of more than 30 persons, ensuring that every element of a trekking/mountaineering expedition goes perfectly.
Married with three children, he is the consummate family man and also a world traveler having visited Denmark, Norway, India and Tibet.
Perhaps his most impressive achievement is the charitable organization ‘Roshan’s Friends’ which has built several schools in Nepal’s Maharabat Range, focusing particularly on bettering the lives of Chepang people, some of the country’s poorest residents.
You’re sure to find your experience with Roshan an educational and moving one.
