Smiling Albino Map of Nepal

- Printer Friendly Version

Nepal, a landlocked country, covers 140,800 sq km, making it roughly the size of the US state of Arkansas. There are few countries on Earth that can match its broad range of environments, from the world's deepest canyon and eight of the world's 10 highest mountains, to low-lying steamy jungles and terraced valleys.

The country can be divided into three different regions: the south, which consists of plains, swamps and forests, the north, which is covered by the Himalaya mountain range that includes the world's tallest peak Mt. Everest, which rises to 8,850 m (29,000 ft) and the central area, consisting of the relatively low Himalayan foothills which are home to the capital Kathmandu and most of the country’s population.
