Travel Tips - Health & Safety
Personal Safety - Your Smiling Albino team resides in the countries we lead adventures. We're experts on this region and take all precautions to ensure a safe, yet exciting experience.
We use safe modes of transportation and only work with people we have personally trained on the finer points of safety and service. SA Team members carry a cellular telephone, so any additional assistance is just a phone call away. Your guides/hosts have personally designed the adventures you participate in.
Health Precautions - We recommend you visit a travel medical clinic prior to your adventure. As for medications, please follow advice recommended by your doctor or local travel clinic.
The following is a list of possible ailments occasionally found in the region: Diphtheria & Tetanus; Polio; Hepatitis A; Hepatitis B; Typhoid; Cholera; Rabies; Japanese B Encephalitis; Tuberculosis; Malaria
This list may seem frightening, however most people never experience anything more than an upset stomach. One way to avoid any health problems while traveling is to take proper pre-trip preparations and brush you teeth with bottled water during your time in the region.
We are often asked whether Malaria medication is necessary. Mosquitoes are generally not a problem in the areas we visit, but again we recommend that you contact a travel health professional to help you assess your specific needs. While in Asia we do recommend wearing light colored, long trousers and shirts in the early evenings, as well as insect repellent - our hosts always have some on offer. See a detailed map of the areas you'll be visiting, there's a link for each country on the right side of this page.

Health & Trip Cancellation Insurance - Smiling Albino insists that each participant take out your own personal travel medical insurance (including air evacuation), and trip cancellation insurance for the duration of your Smiling Albino adventure. Every attempt is made to ensure your safest experience, however accidents and unforseen circumstances can happen on vacation as they do at home.
Physical Fitness - You don't need to be an Olympian to enjoy our adventures. We host guests of all ages and abilities. Spend some time prior to your trip concentrating on the activities you will enjoy with us. A reasonable level of personal fitness is important and will help you enjoy your trip and deal with the heat of the region. Remember, everything we do can be adjusted for specific abilities and tastes.
