Smiling Albino

21 years of smiling albino

Confessions, Memories & Wild Adventures

We’re twenty-one, baby!

Twenty-one years in a flash of light. It’s a milestone celebration for sure. But it seems most people, companies, pets, couples, treaties, celebrate 20 years, no? Celebrating your 21st…who does that?

Well, our 20 years came in 2020 – and the planet turned upside-down – so we’re doing things a little differently, a la Smiling Albino style, and celebrating 21 like we mean it. We’ve got that cocky college grad “I’m finally legal everywhere!” strut, and we’re going to power reminisce this great achievement with you all for the rest of 2021!

Over the years....

Over the past 21 years, we’ve been driven by mad curiosity, a bit of A.D.D., and the boldness to ask “what is possible?”. We want to transform lives and create experiences that live on in the memory bank forever. From private fireworks fetes on a mountain top to motorcycle adventures with a dash of history, to after-hours access in venerable temples, not to mention heart-warming and sustainable local outreach. We impact locally and welcome visitors globally.

It’s these memories or the “Archive of Smiles”, that help define who we are and who we’re trying to be. A work in progress that gets better with age.

the Why, from the beginning

From humble beginnings on Day #1 we sought to:

BE BOLD, ADD VALUE & HAVE FUN

If we’re not contributing value to the lives of our guests, our team, and our wider community, then we’re failing in our mission. Looking back, our favourite memories and accomplishments are the ones that deliver on these promises. Indulge with us a bit and take this moment to savour the taste of 21 years of fun, boldness, surprises, and joy.

personal reflections from our Friends in adventure

You guys did an amazing job with our trip. We very much enjoyed every aspect of it. We are sitting in the airport getting ready to hit the islands and wish that we had Née outsides to navigate the way for us. She is a real charmer and Mr. Song was a blast. Seemed that every step was taken care of with the utmost care and attention. We will be back next year and plan to bring our relatives.

Thank you so much for planning our trip of a lifetime. We loved every moment we had in Cambodia and Thailand. We are hard pressed to pick a favorite part, location, in the moment but as we have spent many times reminiscing already with friends and family..... . Our every food desire was quenched. All of the kids said food in Bangkok was their favorite, lots and lots of street food. We tried it all. Say YES to street food!

From Smiling Albino's Chief Mahout, Daniel Fraser

For 21 years I’ve had the honour of waking up inspired (and intimidated) by our vision: transform lives through meaningful travel. It is the honour of a hundred lifetimes to create and serve for our guests, to work alongside our amazing team, and fulfill a dream job that adds value to our time on this planet. After 21 years, this is just the tip of the iceberg!

come back soon, y'all!

This is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing more of the good, the bad, and the questionable. Stayed tuned for more MORE. We can’t wait to share our secrets with you.
