WHEN TO GO
Vientiane has a typical Southeast Asian climate, with hot, wet summers and warm, dry winters. Rainfall is rarely excessive and comes in short bursts, so even wet season travel is both possible and enjoyable.
But for optimum conditions, we recommend October-February, when the rain all but stops and temperatures are a little cooler than usual, especially at night – perfect weather for a sundowner on the banks of the Mekong.
